Cervical Spondylosis
The cervical spine degenerates with aging in the same manner as the lumbar spine. The degeneration involves intervertebral discs, facet joints, and ligaments. Most of the patients have neck pain as main symptom, which has many reasons. Good posture, neck exercises, avoiding jerky activities, and pain relief medicine can relieve 90% of these problems.
Nowadays, especially with the increasing use of cell phones, laptops and working from home, a condition involving tightness of neck muscles mainly trapezius, which maintains the neck’s erect posture, is quite common. Most of these patients are mis diagnosed as spondylosis. In fact actually these patients suffer from condition known as trapezitis in which patients complain of pain over muscles on the side of the neck , upper back and sometimes shoulder. Most of these pains are transient and disappear with good posture and ecerises.
