Transforaminal Endoscopic Discectomy

This surgery is done for patients with disc problems and sciatica. It is a key hole surgery technique (with 8mm skin cut) which is done under local anesthesia. It is done with help of fluoroscopy (portable Operation Theatre X ray machine) and Endoscope (Small tube which allows surgeon to see magnified view of the body structures on the LED screen). This technology allows the surgeon to enter the spine from one side and to take out the disc compressing the nerve with a small 8mm incision through natural paths of the spine called foramen (natural orifice in spine) without touching the muscle or bone. Patient will have immediate relief of sciatica pain and can go home on same day after this procedure.
